The National Centre for Laser Applications (NCLA) at the University of Galway is the lead partner on the AMPLE – Advanced Makerspaces for Pilot production by micro-Enterprises, a new project co-funded under the European Northern Periphery and Arctic (NPA) program.

AMPLE will provide micro-enterprises across the NPA region with access to advanced makerspace technologies, supporting prototype  development, pilot manufacturing and technical workshops. As lead partner, NCLA brings its expertise in laser materials processing, prototyping and innovation support to help SMEs go from ideation to functional prototype.

The AMPLE project officially commenced on 17 September 2025 with a two-day kick-off meeting at the University of Iceland in Reykjavík, where AMPLE partners gathered to discuss project activities, survey SME needs, map resources and expertise, and plan upcoming workshops and simulation tools.

The project will run over the coming years with partners in Ireland, Iceland and Finland, aiming to strengthen local innovation and support early-stage enterprises.
